2019 40 Under 40: Lesli Vasek, Visit Denver

By Connect Staff, March 25, 2019

Lesli Vasek, 28, works in Denver as corporate sales manager, East region, at Visit Denver. As a 2019 40 Under 40 honoree, Vasek discusses her passion for the events industry.

What I do: As the City of Denver’s official marketing agency, our mission is to bring conventions and leisure visitors to Denver for the economic benefit of the City, the community and our partners. My specific role is to generate leads, assist with sourcing and plan site visits for corporate groups based in the East Region.

How I got here: After graduating from Texas A&M University, I started my career as a front desk agent at the Omni Houston Galleria Hotel. I then completed the sales leader in development management training program and cross-trained with all departments of the hotel. I transferred to Colorado to become a convention services manager at the Omni Interlocken for a couple of years. I decided to gain sales experience not only with hotels, but for the city of Denver, when I joined the Visit Denver team in 2016.

Greatest career accomplishment: Continuing to grow the corporate mid market for the east region at Visit Denver. I am also learning French at the Alliance Française de Denver. I recently passed the DELF A1 and plan to take the A2 exam soon, with the goal of becoming fluent in French! I am currently not fluent as this is a 4-year process

Impressive stats: I achieved 156 percent of my lead goal and reached 146 percent of my lead room night goal for 2018. The economic impact value of the definite groups and room nights that I booked for 2018 was almost $18,000.

What I do outside of work: I recently joined the Rocky Mountain Chapter for IAEE as the director of events and education, working with the board and committees to oversee the continued growth and improvement of the chapter offerings to the Rocky Mountain Community. In my free time, I enjoy exploring the beautiful mountains of Colorado. If I’m not skiing in powder, hiking a fourteener or camping, you can find me drinking an IPA at a local craft brewery!
