Take Your Meeting Outside in Squaw Valley, California

By Sam Boykin, May 15, 2019

Famous for being the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics, Squaw Valley is best known for skiing. Squaw Valley, which is minutes from North Lake Tahoe, also offers a bounty of summer activities, including hiking, biking, swimming, climbing and zip lining.

Activities

A good place to start your adventure is at The Village at Squaw Valley. In addition to dozens of shops and restaurants, this popular spot offers a ropes course with multiple towers, bridges and zip lines. Nearby is a 30-foot indoor climbing wall and a 45-foot outdoor wall, ideal for testing your scaling abilities. And don’t miss the thrilling sky jump, where you can do flips and somersaults as you fly through the air.

After your adventures in the village, take the tram up 2,000 feet to High Camp. Here you can enjoy a swimming pool, hot tub, disc golf course and hiking trails, all of which provide sweeping views of Lake Tahoe and towering granite peaks. There are also numerous bike trails in the area, including one that winds from The Village at Squaw Valley  down to the 7.5-mile Truckee River Trail and past a scenic lake.

Where to Stay

The AAA Four Diamond Resort at Squaw Creek has 405 rooms and six restaurants, including a contemporary steakhouse with cocktails infused with herbs from an on-site garden. The meeting spaces include 24 newly enhanced and upgraded rooms that provide 33,000 square feet of flexible indoor meeting space in addition to 14,750 square feet of outside space with views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Guests here can hit the links at the resort’s 6,900-yard golf course. For something a little different, there’s also FootGolf, which combines soccer and golf. Biking, hiking and fly-fishing are among other outdoor adventures.
